Margaret Anne "Maggie" Turner is Stephanie's over-bearing mother who is never shy about making known her point of view on parenting, or pointing out its superiority to her daughter's approach. She used to date Luke Morgan, known as Mr. Morgan who was Stephanie Phillips biological father. After Stephanie was born, Luke proposed to her so they can can raise Stephanie together. Luke died when Maggie turned 42 and Maggie was devastated. Maggie decided it was time to move on when Stephanie got married to Charlie.

Often Maggie enters the house at random points, whenever she chooses to. Evidently Stephanie is not too pleased about this, since where there is Maggie, there is usually trouble - from making James and Aaron into servants, to training Gabby and Molly to be cheerleaders using a "motivation paddle" and butter.
